I recently had the pleasure of spending the day at Beach Road Wines photographing Chelsea and Craig’s wedding.
Positioned on the rolling hilltops of McLaren Vale with 180 degree views south across the valley Beach Road Wines has been serving up delicious food and wine experiences for more than a decade.
As far as photo locations go it depends on your taste and whether you want to stay on site or head off for locations. If heading off then there’s a plethora of options nearby. If you are keen to just spend 30 minutes around the winery then there’s plenty of great backdrops and good light, especially just before the sun dips below the western hills about 25 minutes before sunset, then again 15 minutes after sunset when the sun lights up the clouds above. You’ll see some examples of this below.
I’m a pizza nut myself so when I hopped out of my car on the wedding day to the aromas of wood over pizza’s on the bake I was half sold already. Then to walk around to the rear lawn to find all the guests enjoying a wine and spot of bocce’ with the sun streaming through the fringing gumtrees I was 100% sold.
The setting is awesome. The service was bang on. The wines and pizza was bloody great and the views and sunset from the deck where the reception all went down was the icing on the cake.
The whole McLaren Vale Region is a wedding venue winner in my eyes as well, for two other very good reasons – there’s heaps of accommodation options for guests nearby and it’s only 30 minutes from Adelaide.
If you’re after a relaxed McLaren Vale Winery vibe and your looking for somewhere that will suit between 60 & 100 guests sit down, then I suggest taking a look at Beach Road Wines for sure
