Welcome to the Handmade Mt Pleasant wedding of Heidi and Angus. It’s pretty super…..and super pretty.
I drove up in the week leading up to the wedding to take a look around the area for photo locations and to run over times with Heidi and Angus. This is when I first got a sense of how involved family and friends were in their wedding. In the paddock was Heidi’s sister chainsawing trees. Angus’ brother and Heidi’s dad were busy fitting a claw foot bath and a toilet to the stone outhouse that they’d converted into a beautiful bathroom. It turned out that almost the entire pavilion was decorated and styled by Heidi and her family and friends. The Jam jar gifts in front of each guest were all hand-made from family recipes including granny’s mustard pickle recipe and Heidi’s mum’s quince jelly. All were lovingly made by Heidi’s mum and support crew of aunties and the bridesmaids. The wedding cake was made by one of their best friends. The ladders, boxes, milk vats, jars and almost everything else you see was collected by Heidi. The bus is Heidi’s Grandpa’s beloved 1943 Diamond T Bus, which had been fully restored in time for the wedding and was driven by Heidi’s dad all day (it may have got stuck in 1st gear for the location photography side of things but it added to the laughs)
There was no shortage of great moments and visually stunning things and folk to photograph. There’s a big long list of other suppliers involved in the day, which you will find at the end of the post too…if you are on the hunt and see something you like.
