These wedding venue ‘love listers’ aren’t a review but include a few of my feelings and thoughts based on my experience over the past 15 years as a wedding photographer. These venues are not paying or asking to be on my website, or necessarily referring my services (although I think some do by choice) – I’ve included these venues because I have seen them consistently provide exceptional wedding day experiences to my couples.
Coriole Vineyards – 30 minutes south of Adelaide in McLaren Vale
At your fingertips
As wedding photographers we are all different in terms of how we shoot and the light we love to shoot in. I’m partial to having a wedding venue with outlooks and locations that provide the flexibility of being able to grab the Bride & Groom from their Reception. Just for about 10 minutes (after a wine or two) for some more relaxed portraits. So having backdrops right there at your fingertips for these portraits is extremely handy. I can then deliver the couple imagery they’ll love without needing to drag them away from their family and friends for extended periods.
Location, Location, Location
Set into the hillside facing South, with views to the distant Willunga Hills, and to the West all the way to the ocean, the light hangs in the sky above Coriole for as long as is possible on any given day. As opposed to some other venues which are set on an East facing aspect where direct and indirect light would disappear earlier on the same day. As a result you get to make full use of any available light there is.
A GREAT PLACE TO PREPARE..(AND RECOVER)!
The other great plus to Coriole Vineyards is having the option of accommodation in the on-site homestead for the nights around the wedding day. The Bride or Groom has a place to get ready, and a place to stumble to just up the garden path. And not to mention the pizza oven and outdoor kitchen in the courtyard, which I think would make for a VERY good recovery party. A place to dust off the cobwebs the day after with a couple of wood oven pizzas and a frothy or two in the sunshine…drool…
